Fortune has just announced their pick for 2020’s Businessperson of the Year, and it is none other than Tesla CEO Elon Reeve Musk.
Apart from being at the helm of the company leading the EV revolution, Musk is also credited as the founder, CEO, CTO, and chief engineer of SpaceX, founder of The Boring Company, co-founder of Neuralink, and co-founder of OpenAI.

While COVID-19 made its way through the world during 2020 and crippled countless businesses, Elon Musk has thrived, and so have his companies.
After Tesla’s long-awaited addition to the S&P 500 index was confirmed, the company’s stock soared, trading at an all-time high of $607 USD per share at one point and currently has a market cap north of $539 billion USD.
With groundbreaking ingenuity and effective business strategies under Musk’s leadership, Tesla has become the envy of much of the auto industry.
Musk’s other brainchild, SpaceX, has done quite well too this year — the aerospace manufacturer and space exploration firm conducted its 100th successful flight, launched the satellite internet network Starlink in beta, and achieved a valuation of $46 billion USD.
Musk and his commodities have done exceptionally well during a tumultuous time for the business sector, but what earned the eccentric business magnate recognition as Fortune’s Businessperson of the Year are his practice of putting purpose before profit on all fronts, his larger than life aspirations (and the astounding progress he’s making towards them), his genuine desire (and effort) to make lives better, and let’s not forget — his charismatic personality (#berlinravecave).
Fortune‘s list of the top 20 Businesspersons of the Year also includes AMD’s Lisa Su at #2, Netflix’s Reed Hastings at # 4, Amazon’s Jeff Bezos at #7, and Fortune‘s Most Powerful Woman of 2020, Accenture’s Julie Sweet at #14.
Just yesterday, Musk also received another award, the 2020 Axel Springer in Berlin, Germany, where he attended and personally accepted his accolade.
