Elon Musk Says ‘Hell Yeah’ to Idea of Giga Texas Opening Event

In a recent tweet, Tesla CEO Elon Musk hinted at the possibility of a Giga Berlin County Fair-like event for the opening of Gigafactory Texas, complete with a public tour of the premises, local food vendors, and possibly the biggest meetup of Tesla owners ever.

When Tesla investor and insider (@SawyerMerritt) said he thinks Giga Texas’ opening should get the Berlin-Grünheide treatment, Musk responded with a succinct “Hell yeah”.

To celebrate the opening of Gigafactory Berlin, Tesla arranged a Country Fair event for October 9 with an exciting tour of the facility, tons of entertainment for the locals, and much more.

The event was an absolute hit, and gave us a look at not only Giga Berlin’s production capabilities, but also Model Y units with 4680 battery packs, new programmable, adaptive headlights for Tesla’s electric vehicles, the carmaker’s brand new “special crimson” color option, and more.

If Tesla does end up organizing such an event for Giga Texas, Musk will likely be in attendance, as he was at Saturday’s Giga Berlin County Fair.

Construction on Giga Texas is coming along nicely, and the factory is expected to begin production on the Model Y later this year, in addition to eventually producing the much anticipated Tesla Cybertruck. According to Musk, the Texas Gigafactory “will be almost a mile long when complete.”
