Tesla Q4 2022: Record 405,000 Deliveries and 439,000 Cars Made

Tesla today announced its production and delivery numbers for Q4 2022 and the full year.

The company said it produced a total of 439,701 cars and delivered 405,278 vehicles in the fourth quarter, falling slightly short of the analyst consensus of about 417,957 deliveries.

“We continued to transition towards a more even regional mix of vehicle builds which again led to a further increase in cars in transit at the end of the quarter,” said Tesla.

Over the course of Q4, Tesla produced 419,088 Model 3/Y vehicles and 20,613 Model S/X units. 388,131 of its deliveries for the quarter were Model 3/Y, while 17,147 were Model S/X.

For the full year, the electric vehicle (EV) pioneer reported production and deliveries of 1,369,611 and 1,313,851 million vehicles, respectively. Production grew 47% year-over-year from 2021, while deliveries surged 40%.

“All things considered…I’m super proud of the team for this result. A smoother delivery pattern will require more vehicles in transit, which is why production > deliveries,” said Martin Viecha, Senior Director of Investor Relations at Tesla.

Tesla had a pretty big 2022, with the company recently recapping some of its most notable milestones from the past year.

Going into 2022, the company will continue to ramp production at its Gigafactories in Texas and Berlin-Brandenburg, both of which hit weekly production rates of 3,000 units in 2022. In addition, rumours suggest Tesla is finalizing the location of its next Gigafactory (spoiler: it might be Mexico).

Tesla will post its financial results for the fourth quarter and full year ended December 31, 2022, after the market closes on Wednesday, January 25, 2023.
