Tesla to Open Australia’s Largest Supercharger Station Next Month

Tesla is planning to open its largest Supercharger station in Australia next month, planned to include 12 V3 charging stalls in Box Hill outside of Melbourne (via The Driven).

The Supercharger station is expected to become operational just after New Year’s, and construction on the site has already begun, according to sources who spoke with The Driven.

Prior to this project, Tesla’s largest Supercharger in Australia was in Sydney, featuring 10 V2 charging stalls. Tesla also constructed six V3 Supercharger stalls in Mornington last December, representing the company’s most recent large-scale charging project in the country.

The Box Hill Supercharger will be Tesla’s 16th location in Victoria, representing a total of 84 charging stalls across the state starting in early 2023.

Tesla launched its V4 Superchargers this year, with the first V4 Supercharging stalls headed to Yuma County, Arizona, in the U.S.

The news comes after Tesla started delivering the Model Y in Australia in August after sales of the SUV were launched back in July. Tesla’s Model Y also earned the 2022 Car of the Year award from News AU just last week.

Model Y buyers in Australia could be eligible to save as much as $10,000 with tax benefits, using a combination of incentives from the government.
