Tesla Celebrates Model Y Launch in Australia [PICS]
After what seemed to be some of the first Tesla Model Y deliveries in Australia, more people have received the country’s first deliveries as officially announced by the automaker.
Tesla announced the first customer deliveries of the Model Y in Australia, as shown in a series of photos shared on the automaker’s Instagram on Monday.
The photos show a handful of families and individuals receiving their Model Y units in a warehouse filled with the electric SUVs, each with the country’s right-hand drive (RHD) configuration.
Tesla’s Model Y units were spotted on delivery trucks in Australia as far back as June, hinting at an imminent launch of the electric SUV.
In the same month, Tesla said it planned to increase RHD Model Y production due to high demand pushing Australia delivery dates into 2023.
Tesla announced Model 3 and Y units in Australia and New Zealand would use camera-only Autopilot in June, after the automaker began switching away from radar worldwide last year.
Tesla chair Robyn Denholm said last month that sales in Australia could double by the end of 2022.
