Twitter is set to require users to pay $20 a month for blue check verification under Elon Musk, according to people familiar with the matter and internal communications spotted by The Verge.

The move is set to change how Twitter Blue works, which has long been discussed by Musk amidst preparations to take over the company.

“The whole verification process is being revamped right now,” said Musk on Sunday.

The subscription, which was previously just $4.99 a month, will become $19.99 and gives current users with verification 90 days to either subscribe or lose their checkmark.

On Sunday, employees were apparently told they needed to launch the feature by November 7 or else they’ll be fired.

The news comes just three days after Musk took over Twitter officially, and Musk has already taken over as CEO and fired some of the company’s top executives.

Musk also announced plans to create a content moderation council, which support his larger aspirations to completely revamp bot data and efforts to clean up the spam on the platform.

Additionally, Musk has brought in Tesla engineers to review Twitter’s code and act as advisors, and he’s been outspoken leading up to the purchase about his plans to lay off as much as 75 percent of the company’s staff. A recent report from the Washington Post says this number is now pegged at around 25% instead.
