SpaceX’s Inspiration4 launch took place on September 15, using SpaceX’s Falcon 9 booster and taking off from the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida.
The entire crew of the SpaceX Inspiration4 flight was awarded Dragon Astronaut wings, upon safely returning, including Arceneaux who was the space flight’s Medical Officer.
On top of conducting health experiments aboard the Dragon spacecraft, the Inspiration4 crew sought to raise $200 million USD for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, featuring a generous donation from SpaceX head Elon Musk of $50 million USD.
Led by billionaire entrepreneur Jared Isaacman, the Inspiration4 crew also included Chris Sembroski and Dr. Sian Proctor, in addition to Arceneaux.
“It doesn’t get more qualified than Hayley! Congrats – working for two amazing organizations – SpaceX and St. Jude – both with important visions that can change the world,” said Isaacman in response to the news.
Netflix also released an Inspiration4 documentary which features footage of the crew in preparation for the space flight, all the way through the crew’s return.
