Tesla Gigafactory Austin Construction Update: Day 452 [VIDEO]
Tesla officially announced plans to move its headquarters from Fremont, California to Austin, Texas earlier this month, just a few months ahead of the company’s completion of Gigafactory Austin.
A new video shared by Jeff Roberts on Sunday shows drone footage of the Gigafactory Austin site as it begins nearing completion, taken on the site’s day 452 of construction.
Alongside other updates, Roberts notes the huge Tesla logo windows beginning to come together, as well as a number of new updates to the building’s interior.
The video begins with a series of shots from past construction days, depicting just how far the company has managed to come since it began the project last year.
Despite the factory site nearing completion, there are still tons of workers, work trucks and other hardware scattered around the site. Still, the factory can’t be too far from completion, as Tesla already ran the first Model Y pre-production cars off the line in August.
Earlier this month, one individual suggested an opening event at Gigafactory Austin like the one that took place at Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg in recent weeks, to which Tesla CEO Elon Musk responded “hell yeah!”
Tesla also officially launched its insurance services in Texas, after being available in just California for months before.
