Jay Leno Says ‘The Electric Car is Here to Stay’, and Elon Musk Agrees [VIDEO]
TV host, comedian, and avid car enthusiast Jay Leno appeared as a guest on a recent episode of CNBC‘s The News with Sheperd Smith to talk about electric vehicles (EVs), plus tout the upcoming new season of his show ‘Jay Leno’s Garage’.
During the show, Leno said he believes “the electric car is here to stay.” In response to a tweet citing Leno’s interview, Tesla CEO Elon Musk chimed to reply to @TeslaNY to say, “Jay is right.”

With Leno’s documented affinity for anything on wheels and Musk’s current position as an innovator in that very space, it’s no surprise that their paths have crossed on a number of occasions. Leno has often expressed his admiration for Musk and everything he has achieved.
Leno has also been one of the most outspoken proponents of Tesla’s Model S Plaid, which the EV advocate also set a record 1/4 mile time in. The Model S Plaid was a resounding success, quickly being crowned the fastest 0-60 mph ‘production car’ ever.
During the show, Leno also went on to predict that “a child born today will probably drive in a gasoline powered car about as often as you would drive in a car with a stick shift” in this day and age. With new gas car sales bans targetted in the next decade, Leno’s prediction may be quite sound.
