Jay Leno Shows Off His Model S Plaid with Tesla Design Chief [PICS]

A recent tweet from the official Twitter account of Jay Leno’s Garage, the retired comedian and car enthusiast’s reality TV show, shared images of Leno as he showed off his new Tesla Model S Plaid, most likely for a future episode.

Leno was shown both inside and outside of the Model S Plaid with Tesla design chief, Franz von Holzhausen. The Tesla head designer had a t-shirt with the Plaid logo, while Leno had a picture of the Model S Plaid.

This is the same Model S Plaid the car enthusiast previously tried to set a world record for fastest 1/4 mile time in.

Leno managed a 1/4 mile time of 9.24 seconds with a top speed of 152 mph, closely corroborating Tesla’s official numbers for the electric vehicle (EV) that put it at a 1/4 mile time of 9.23 seconds with a top speed of 155 mph.

The fastest accelerating production car in the world, the Model S Plaid goes 0-60 mph in just under 2 seconds. With stats like those, it’s no surprise that the Model S Plaid has earned a spot in Jay Leno’s Garage and that he’s taken a liking to the silent beast.

Jay Leno’s Garage is set to return to CNBC this fall, so we should see more footage of Leno’s Model S Plaid later this year.

The Model S Plaid is available now, starting at $129,990 USD. The base model offers a range of 390 miles.
