AutoTrader Crowns Tesla Model 3 ‘Best Car for Families’

In a recent tweet, U.K.-based automotive marketplace AutoTrader announced the Tesla Model 3 as its pick for 2021’s ‘Best Car for Families’ in its annual ‘New Car Awards’. The tweet was also ‘liked’ by Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

The Model 3 may not be as roomy as a 7-seat Model Y, but cargo space and legroom isn’t all that makes a good family car.

The Model 3 Standard Range Plus (SR+), which is the base trim, can easily accommodate a family of five (four humans and a pup) on a 2,100-mile long trip with no mechanical problems, technical issues, or range anxiety, shared one Twitter user.

The Model 3 also happens to be the safest car in the world, earning the highest crash test ratings ever awarded by both the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS).

In fact, the IIHS has also given the Model 3 a Top Safety Pick+ designation for its exceptional build quality and comprehensive safety features. But this may be removed soon, as Tesla transitions to camera-based Autopilot known as Tesla Vision.

Being named AutoTrader‘s pick for this year’s ‘Best Car for Families’ couldn’t have come at a better time, as Consumer Reports pulled the Model 3’s status as a ‘Top Pick’ just this week.

Following a slight increase in price earlier this month, the Model 3 SR+ is currently available to purchase for $39,990 USD before potential savings through EV incentives, with an estimated delivery window of 3-13 weeks.
