Tesla Japan’s Model 3 and Model Y Get V2L, Plus Charging Perks

Tesla Japan says its Model 3 and Model Y now support vehicle-to-load (V2L) power output, with the sedan also picking up a 16-inch center touchscreen and a few cabin changes. The company shared the updates on X on Thursday, alongside a new charging support program for the first 5,000 buyers of either model.
Model 3とModel Yは、より便利で、スタイリッシュに進化しました。

On the Model 3 side, the list covers V2L support, the 16-inch center touchscreen and a black headliner, plus optional Zen Grey seats and optional 19-inch Dark Nova wheels. Model Y gets V2L as well. Tesla notes the V2L power adapter is scheduled to go on sale in January 2027, so owners will need to wait a little to actually power devices from the car.
That same 16-inch display came to every Model 3 in the U.S., Puerto Rico and Mexico earlier this month. Japan’s spec list also closely mirrors Tesla’s October Model 3 update in Korea, which added V2L, a black headliner and Zen Grey seats.
According to Tesla’s campaign page, the charging support program runs from October 23 to December 31, 2026, with separate caps for each model. The first 1,500 buyers of the new Model 3 get ¥264,000 (about US$1,680) in support, while the first 3,500 Model Y buyers get ¥88,000 (about US$560). Tesla pitches it as help for people installing a home charger as well as apartment dwellers who will rely on Superchargers and public fast chargers. After Japan’s national CEV subsidy, Tesla lists effective out-of-pocket prices starting at ¥3,779,000 (about US$24,080) for the Model 3 and ¥4,229,000 (about US$26,950) for the Model Y, with registration costs and compulsory insurance extra.
There are some catches. The Model Y L isn’t eligible, and simply placing an order doesn’t lock in a spot. Buyers need to have chosen a payment method and have a confirmed delivery date, and anyone financing has to clear loan approval. Customers with an undelivered order as of October 23 can’t cancel and reorder to qualify, and the offer ends for each model once its cap is reached.
The updates arrive as Tesla Japan keeps pushing to launch FSD (Supervised) in Japan before 2026 ends, which would give buyers there another reason to look at a new Tesla.
Would V2L make a Model 3 or Model Y more tempting for you?
