Tesla’s App Is Getting Grok and Here’s What It Will Actually Do

Tesla iOS Mobile App Status

A de-compile of Tesla’s latest iOS app update, version 4.57.0, has turned up some interesting strings that point to two significant features coming down the pipeline: a Grok-powered status system and a revamped insurance policy workflow, according to @Tesla_App_iOS.

On the Grok side, strings referencing “Simple System Status Powered by Grok” and “Grok Home Status” suggest Tesla is planning to integrate Elon Musk’s xAI chatbot directly into the app as a way to translate complex vehicle and energy data into plain English. Instead of digging through technical graphs or error codes, users would get a straightforward summary of what’s going on with their car or home energy system.

The strings also reference Tesla’s energy ecosystem specifically, hinting that Grok could answer questions about solar production, Powerwall health, and energy costs.

The feature also appears to be headed for a global launch. Translated strings were found in Italian, Spanish, and Dutch, among other languages, suggesting Tesla isn’t planning a US-only rollout.

On the insurance side, the update reveals what looks like a new batch processing workflow for Tesla Insurance, internally referred to as the ADPF Flow. Right now, adding drivers or vehicles to a policy has to be done one at a time. The new system appears to let users add multiple drivers and vehicles in a single guided process, walking through a driver phase, a vehicle phase, and a review step before submitting. Error-handling strings also suggest the app will block incomplete submissions from going through.

The app also includes new animated badges for Cyberbeast, Ludicrous, and Plaid models, along with Signature Series badges. Check them out below:
