Tesla Supercharger Milestone: Delivery to Opening in Just 4 Days

Tesla has achieved a significant milestone in the expansion of its Supercharger network, according to a recent update from the company’s @TeslaCharging account on X (formerly Twitter).

The company has streamlined its deployment process for Prefabricated Supercharger Units (PSUs), reducing the time from delivery to operational status to just four days. This rapid deployment technique underscores Tesla’s commitment to enhancing electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure across North America. It also suggests Tesla wants to take this number down even further.

The process involves several key steps: pre-assembly of the Superchargers on a concrete base at Tesla’s Gigafactory in New York, transportation by truck across North America, loading up to 12 Superchargers per vehicle, and the final craning into position at the designated sites. Once positioned, the units are connected to the utility grid and opened for public use.

This method has allowed Tesla to set a new record for its largest pre-assembly site build, installing 76 Superchargers at a single location. To date, the company has successfully installed over 2,300 pre-assembled Superchargers across the continent.

These pre-fabricated Superchargers allow Tesla to deploy new charging locations at a rapid rate. This is more important than ever as the company’s North American Charging Standard (NACS) has been adopted by all major automakers.
