Starlink said on September 9, 2026, that its next-generation Router 4 brings faster peak speeds and indoor coverage of up to 3,500 square feet (325 m²), calling it the first Starlink router built around a Wi-Fi 7 chipset for streaming, gaming, and everyday home use.
In the official post, the company framed Router 4 as a hardware step-up for residential kits rather than a dish redesign, pointing customers to an email signup for availability updates and saying the unit will land soon in select areas. Starlink did not publish a price, a full country list, or a firm ship date in that announcement.
The pitch sits beside recent Starlink connectivity wins, from wiring 6,000 rural schools across Argentina to cabin Wi-Fi going live on Austrian Airlines. A next-gen in-home router is a different beat than school kits or airline installs, but it fits the same pattern of official posts that name a concrete product and a measurable coverage claim.
Earlier this summer, SpaceX also secured U.S. equipment authorization for a Wi-Fi 7 Starlink router after the FCC gave the company a temporary path to keep selling some foreign-made Wi-Fi gear. The September 9 marketing post is the first clear consumer-facing name — Router 4 — tied to that next-gen Wi-Fi generation.
For now, what Starlink has locked in is the headline: Wi-Fi 7 inside the box, coverage rated to about 3,500 square feet, and a soft “available soon” window rather than a global retail drop.
