Tesla Robotaxi Unveil Coming August 8, Says Elon Musk

Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced on Friday the company will reveal its Robotaxi on August 8, 2024.

“Tesla Robotaxi unveil on 8/8,” said Musk, less than an hour ago. That’s 125 days from now.

Musk added afterwards, “8/8 and year of the Dragon,” in response to @SawyerMerritt pointing out 8 is a lucky number in Asian nations.

Will Tesla’s Robotaxi leverage existing vehicle parts (i.e. Model 3) or will it be an entirely new car?

The announcement comes after a Reuters report today claimed Tesla’s next-gen $25,000 car was being cancelled, which Musk shot back as false.

Last fall, Musk debunked the Tesla Robotaxi would be designed like Cybertruck, only to say, “Robotaxi will look like the future.”

In October 2019, Musk said, “When the car is FSD without supervision, ie robotaxi, you’ll be able to earn far more than monthly lease/loan cost by allowing others to use it. Managing a small fleet of robotaxis will be a career for many & much better than driving a single car.”

This is going to be exciting. Tesla’s FSD 12.3.3 in our tests has been able to demonstrate truly disengagement-free travel from point A to point B, far more consistency than version 11. The future is here, folks. Stay tuned!
