The Hertz Electrifies electric vehicle (EV) adoption program has launched in Denver and is set to partner with local high schools in Colorado, as detailed last week in a press release.

The program will partner with Denver’s Montbello Career and Technical High School to help educate students and the larger community about EVs, including training on the emerging technology using EVs donated by Hertz.

“We are proud to launch Hertz Electrifies with the city of Denver and Mayor Hancock, and to partner with Montbello Career and Technical High School to help create EV educational and training opportunities for the workforce of the future,” said Hertz CEO Stephen Scherr in the release.

The program will bring 5,200 rental EVs to Denver with models from Tesla, Polestar and GM. It will also oversee the installation of public charging infrastructure, using bp pulse.

Although Denver is the first location to see the program debuted, Hertz plans to expand to other cities in the U.S. in the future.

“We’re targeting this initial effort right where it’s most needed, and also partnering with the Denver Youth Employment Program to make sure there are similar opportunities across the city,” wrote Denver Mayor Michael B. Hancock. “These alliances will further educate our youth and put them on a path to success in the economy of tomorrow.”
