Tesla Reportedly Switches Model S Long Range to Goodyear Tires

Tesla often switches out which tires come standard on its cars, and recently some buyers have noticed that the automaker has switched out its Long Range Model S tires.

The 2023 Tesla Model S Long Range now reportedly comes with Goodyear Eagle Sport all-season tires, rather than the previous model years which included Michelin tires, according to a Reddit post made on Monday.

“Visited my local Tesla Service Center and this 2023 Model S was being delivered. Possible supply chain issue. I’ve known them all to come with Michelins,” said u/Phantom3269 who shared the images.

Many also noted that their recent Model S deliveries from late 2022 came with Continental tires, while one user claimed they received different brands on the front and back tires.

Some in the thread noted that Michelin’s tires were the best possible option as far as tires go, with others expressing disappointment in the change, saying this feels like a cost-cutting move, if true.

The Model S Long Range goes 0-60mph in 3.1 seconds, offering some intense acceleration. If you have a heavy foot, you’ll be burning through tires.

Similarly, Tesla’s Model 3 sedan began delivering with Hankook tires instead of the Michelin tires previously used.

A prototype for Tesla’s upcoming Cybertruck displayed at the Gigafactory Texas Cyber Rodeo event had 35-inch tires on just a 20-inch rim.

Tesla has also used Pirelli tires on some of its units, including the made-in-Germany Model Y Performance.

Goodyear’s airless tires were tested on a Tesla Model 3 about a year ago, and are meant to be more sustainable than other tire options.
