Tesla uses Goodyear tires on some of its Model 3 cars, and in a recent announcement, the tire maker has shared plans to develop an airless, completely-sustainable tire within the next decade.

Goodyear plans to produce airless tires for electric vehicles, in a move to reach its target of making a completely sustainable and maintenance-free tire product by 2030, according to InsideEVs.

The tires were seen in a video from the company shared Monday, being tested on a Tesla Model 3.

In the video, the host says, “As part of its commitment to enable mobility now and in the future, Goodyear has extended testing of its non-pneumatic, airless tires to high-performance electric vehicles. After successfully executing durability testing of non-pneumatic tires at speeds up to 100 miles per hour, Goodyear recently tested the alternative tire architecture at the company’s Akron Proving Grounds.”

During the tests, Goodyear said the car was able to reach speeds up to 55 mph (88 km/h) in the non-pneumatic tires, showing a decent ability to turn while doing so. Still, it’s clear from the video that the tires have a ways to go before reaching mass marketability as a sustainable alternative by 2030.
