NIO Q3 2022 Deliveries Increase 29% Year-Over-Year
NIO on Saturday announced third-quarter deliveries of 31,607 electric vehicles (EVs), marking a 29.3% increase year-over-year and a new quarterly record for the Chinese automaker.
The company delivered 10,878 vehicles in September alone. NIO’s September deliveries consisted of 7,729 premium smart electric SUVs — which included 1,895 ES7s — and 3,149 premium smart electric sedans — 2,928 ET7s and 221 ET5s.
The electric carmaker only started delivering its latest luxury sedan, the ET5, in late September. As of September 30, 2022, cumulative deliveries of NIO vehicles have reached 249,504. The company delivered its 200,000th vehicle back in May.
NIO is currently gearing up to enter the European market, with a launch event scheduled for October 7, 2022, in Berlin under the theme “A New Horizon.” According to reports, NIO is eyeing a 2025 timeline for an expansion into the U.S.
NIO’s fellow China-based EV makers, Li Auto and Xpeng Motors, also saw deliveries grow year-over-year.
Li Auto delivered a total of 26,524 vehicles between July and September, representing a 5.6% year-over-year increase. The company delivered 11,531 EVs in September, up 62.5% year-over-year.
Meanwhile, Xpeng Motors reported third-quarter deliveries of 29,570 vehicles, an increase of 15% year-over-year. Xpeng delivered 8,468 EVs in September. The company also launched its advanced driver assistance system, Navigation Guided Pilot (NGP), as part of a Guangzhou-based beta program in September.
Despite having a rough start to the quarter in July, all three Chinese EV makers appear to have enjoyed a fruitful third quarter — NIO more so than others.
