Tesla Rental Demand is ‘Very, Very Strong,’ Says Hertz CEO

Tesla’s electric vehicles (EVs) are rented frequently at Hertz locations, according to the company, which says it has similar amounts of corporate and legal customers going electric.
Demand for Teslas at Hertz rental locations has remained “very, very solid,” according to the companies head in a statement to Yahoo Finance this week.
“Demand has been very, very solid,” said Hertz CEO Stephen Scherr in an interview on Tuesday. “We’re seeing demand not just among leisure travelers but also among corporate travelers, where in fact corporations want their employees in an electric vehicle to satisfy some of their own carbon footprint objectives.”

Scherr also says that the holidays remain a significant time for rentals from the company.
“Bookings have been positive out through the next couple of months, but equally… through the holiday period where it’s proving quite strong,” said Scherr.
The news comes after Hertz purchased 100,000 Tesla Model 3 vehicles in a partnership announced late last year. Since the deal became official, the rental company has also purchased a number of Model Ys, Polestar units and, in recent weeks, GM vehicles.
Hertz plans to buy 65,000 Polestar EVs, with availability expected to begin this spring in Europe, before going live in North America and Australia by the end of the year.
