Communication network company Marlink announced plans to use SpaceX’s Starlink internet for its maritime and enterprise customers, as detailed in press release from Marlink on Thursday.

Marlink and OmniAccess are set to become “authorized Starlink integrators” for marine and commercial accounts, using a combination of SpaceX’s connectivity solutions.

“This ability to utilise Starlink is giant step in our strategy to provide our customers with the best-in-class user experience, combining our industry-leading GEO satellite connectivity solutions with the next generation LEO high-speed, low-latency services,” said Marlink CEO Erik Ceuppens. “We are looking forward to working with SpaceX to integrate Starlink as part of our smart network solutions, creating a superior global connectivity service for our extensive maritime and enterprise customer base across the world.”

The deal specifically mentions that use of Starlink’s satellite and mobile phone network plans to help improve customer access to the internet.

The news comes just after a report showed Starlink hitting almost 2.3 million downloads on the Apple app store.

SpaceX is currently in discussion with an array of airlines, mobile network providers and maritime customers about unique deals using its recently approved Starlink internet for RVs, boats and planes.

Starlink reached Antarctica earlier this month, marking operation on all seven continents.
