Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s account on the Chinese social network Weibo, reiterated that the automaker makes its cars for export in the first half of each quarter, while making local deliveries in the second half, explained a message on Thursday (via CnEVPost).

“Tesla makes cars for export in first half of quarter & for local market in second half,” said Musk on Weibo.

The post was reportedly not made by Musk himself, but rather by the Beijing operations team. The information was not shared on Musk’s Twitter account.

Musk emphasized last year Giga Shanghai’s usual end-of-quarter push is usually first for exports, then local deliveries for the latter half of each quarter.

The news comes after Tesla sold 28,217 Shanghai-built vehicles in July, a drop of 14.41 percent year over year due to production upgrades set to increase output capacity. The upgrades are expected to bring Tesla Giga Shanghai’s production up to one million cars per year.

In the same month, Tesla exported 19,756 vehicles while 8,461 vehicles were delivered locally.

Nearly 9,000 Tesla cars set for export filled the Shanghai port last week, signaling a huge number of deliveries being exported in Q3. Tesla also reached a million cars produced at Giga Shanghai last week.
