NIO Deliveries Hit 6,131 Cars in February 2022, Up 9.9% Year-Over-Year

Alongside mounting competition in China’s electric vehicle (EV) market, one startup saw deliveries surge last month despite a production pause and a week-long holiday.

NIO delivered 6,131 units in February, representing a 9.9 percent surge year over year, according to figures released by the company on Tuesday.

The date range also includes much of the Lunar New Year which ran from January 31 to February 6 and is typically a slow week for China’s auto market.

Out of the total, NIO delivered 1,084 ES8 units, 3,309 ES6 units and 1,783 EC6 units in February.

NIO delivered 15,783 vehicles in 2022 in total, increasing by 23.3% year-over-year, while cumulative deliveries of the ES8, ES6 and EC6 as of February 28, 2022, reached 182,853 cars.

The figures are especially noteworthy, given that NIO also halted production briefly to prepare for ET7 production — set to begin taking place in March.

The NIO ET7 will become available for test drives on March 5, with the company accepting deposits for the electric sedan on March 11 and the first deliveries scheduled for March 28.

NIO is also expected to unveil the ES7 electric SUV in April, with deliveries planned to begin this year.

The automaker’s cumulative deliveries amount to 182,853 units just a few months after NIO delivered a record 10,878 units in November.

On Monday, NIO announced plans to seek secondary listings in both Hong Kong and Singapore, in addition to its primary listing in the New York Stock Exchange.
