Tesla Model 3 Sales in Europe Surge in June to No. 2 Spot

The Tesla Model 3 sold the second-most vehicles in Europe during June, landing just behind Europe’s own Volkswagen AG, according to a report from Bloomberg. The automaker delivered a total of 25,697 Model 3 units within the month, and has sold a total of 66,350 units total in Europe this year through the month of June.

During the sales spree, Tesla managed to double its market share last month to 19 percent, with the company delivering more than double its 11,000-unit monthly average. The automaker tends to fluctuate more than other vehicle manufacturers month-to-month, with the end of each quarter usually seeing high volumes of the company’s deliveries.

While the Tesla Model 3 is currently the only vehicle available in Europe, as imported from Tesla’s Shanghai Gigafactory, the company has also made plans to begin offering other vehicles from its lineup, and will eventually be able to produce them all from European soil.

Europe Tesla Model Y and Model S Plaid deliveries are also expected to begin in Q3, with some Model Y units set to deliver to customers in Europe as soon as September. Consequently, Tesla also opened its European order configurator for the Model Y earlier this month.

Tesla’s Gigafactory Berlin, currently under construction in Grünheide within the German state of Brandenburg, is expected to be completed by the end of 2021, at which point the company will no longer need to import vehicles to Europe from its Shanghai Gigafactory.
