Tesla Model Y Mountain Biking with Kuat NV 2.0 Rack [VIDEO]

A video posted Monday by YouTube channel DC//PROJEKT shows the video’s host using a Tesla Model Y with an attached rack carrying mountain bikes. The rack featured in the video is a Kuat NV 2.0, and the host also discusses why he went with that particular product.

Because he didn’t order his Tesla Model Y with a tow hitch, the host also talks about his experience buying an aftermarket hitch, which he installed on his Model Y. Perhaps most significantly, he mentions that he saved a good chunk of money by buying the aftermarket hitch rather than the one from Tesla.

The host also goes on to talk about the Kuat NV 2.0 bike rack, as compared to similar models from Yakima, 1up, and Thule. While the Kuat was the more expensive of the models, landing at about $700 (USD), he says he went with it because of its separate mechanisms for stabilizing and securing the rack.

Ultimately, the host says that he would recommend this setup to anyone, including that he didn’t have any issues charging even with the rack on.

It’s certainly no 6,000 lb Airstream, but this Model Y with a mountain bike rack is just another example of the utilitarian nature of Teslas, and how they can be used for anything a conventional car can be used for – but with zero emissions!
