Grok Bot Phone Calls Go Live, Turning Down a 10% Retention Offer

Grok Bot can now place phone calls for its users.
The feature Elon Musk previewed in October went live on Wednesday, according to the official Grok Bot account on X, which shared a short demo video.
In the 42-second clip, the bot notices an internet contract renews in three days and asks whether it should call and cancel. The user says yes and adds, “And don’t let them talk me into a discount.”
Before dialing, the bot shows a “Phone call” card naming who it plans to call, with Cancel and Call buttons. The call goes out after the user taps Call.
Once connected, a live transcript shows both sides of the conversation. When a support agent named Dan offers 10% off for a year to stay, the bot declines and says the customer “got a much better deal with Starlink.” Dan then confirms the cancellation.
On screen during the call are Take over and End call buttons. Afterward, the bot reports back in chat: “Done. Your plan is canceled. As you said, they tried. But I said no thanks.”
Musk promoted the assistant on X the same day, writing, “Try Grok @Bot. It’s like hiring an amazing assistant!”
Grok Bot runs tasks, routines and connectors on a user’s behalf. Recent updates added shopping cards, Vault payments and Team Bots, following Pages and Vault. The company also launched a referral program with a two-week Premium trial.
The post did not say who can use phone calls today, whether the feature costs extra, which countries are supported, or whether the bot tells the person on the other end that they are talking to an AI.
Would you hand your next cancellation call to an AI?
