X kept people on its website longer than any other major social network in September, according to new data from Similarweb.
The average visit to x.com lasted 13 minutes and 25 seconds worldwide, ahead of Facebook and Instagram. Elon Musk shared the chart on Sunday morning, adding that X is “maximizing for long-term unregretted user seconds.” It comes as X builds out new features like X Money’s 6% savings rate.

Facebook came in second at 10 minutes and 15 seconds per visit, with Instagram third at 8 minutes and 38 seconds. That puts X more than three minutes ahead of Meta’s biggest platform.
Reddit and TikTok trailed well behind. Similarweb’s chart shows Reddit visits averaging 5 minutes and 39 seconds and TikTok at 5 minutes and 12 seconds.
These figures cover all traffic to each website worldwide in September 2026, measured in minutes per visit. They don’t include time spent in mobile apps.
“Unregretted user seconds” is a phrase Musk has used for years to describe what he wants X to optimize for. The idea is to count only time people feel was well spent, rather than chasing raw engagement at any cost.
X has been adding reasons to stick around. The company recently hired a Microsoft AI executive to lead product, while Grok keeps expanding, with Grok’s API adding hidden watermarks this month.
