X Money Puts a $150,000 Ceiling on Its Popular 6% Savings Rate

X Payments told holders of X Money accounts on Friday that starting December 1, the top 6% savings rate will apply only to the first $150,000 in deposits.
A notice X Payments sent to account holders, dated October 30, 2026, says eligible Stored Value Accounts that earn 6.00% APY will keep that rate on the first $150,000. Any amount above that will earn 4.00% APY.
The same notice also caps ATM operator fee reimbursements at $4 per withdrawal, up to two times per calendar month. After those reimbursements are used, operator fees come out of the account. X Money itself continues to charge $0 in ATM fees.
Matching language now sits on X Money’s public interest FAQ, which lists rates as effective as of October 12, 2026 and variable thereafter.
Eligible Premium, Super, and Ultra subscribers on The X Subscription have been able to earn the 6.00% APY, while other users can reach a boosted 6% with qualifying direct deposits. New York residents do not earn APY on these accounts. The product page still markets “Up to 6.00% APY.”
Creators in X’s Grok Bot rewards pilot already need an X Money account to get paid, and recent Tesla software builds have tested X Money as a Robotaxi payment option.
The top rate is tied to the paid tiers of X Subscription plans, so the new ceiling mainly affects subscribers with large balances.
Neither the @XMoney account nor Elon Musk has posted a separate announcement of the December 1 change on the platform.
Will the $150,000 ceiling change how much cash you keep in X Money?
