Tesla says Giga Berlin built 7,000 Model Y in a single week, calling it the next production milestone for its German factory. “Ramp-up is in full swing at Giga Berlin. This week we hit the next production milestone: 7,000 Model Y built in one week,” the company’s Tesla Manufacturing account posted on X Friday afternoon, alongside a photo of workers celebrating around a white Model Y on the factory floor.

That figure is well above the 6,000 cars a week the plant reached for the first time in early 2024, and it’s 75% more than the 4,000 Model Y a week Giga Berlin hit in February 2023. By our math, holding 7,000 a week would work out to roughly 364,000 vehicles a year, though Tesla didn’t say how long it expects to keep up that pace.
Giga Berlin has been building toward this since May, when it passed 750,000 vehicles and Tesla said it was raising the plant’s output by 20% by hiring staff and adding shifts. The factory built more than 61,000 vehicles in the first quarter of 2026, which averages out to about 4,700 a week over 13 weeks, so this week’s total is roughly 50% higher.
Strong demand in Europe helps explain the push, with the Model Y ranking as Europe’s best-selling EV through the first seven months of 2026 with 115,957 registrations, according to Dataforce, up 55% from the same stretch of 2025. Worldwide, Tesla delivered 486,532 vehicles in the third quarter, beating analyst consensus by about 5%.
Looking further out, Tesla is planning a second production hall at Giga Berlin more than twice the size of the current one, with a partial permit application expected in December and construction starting in 2027 at the earliest, according to German broadcaster rbb. The plant matters for Canadians too, since Tesla began shipping Berlin-built Model Y to Canada last year.
Do you think Giga Berlin can hold a 7,000-a-week pace into the end of the year, and would you rather buy a Model Y built in Germany?
