Elon Says SpaceXSI Is Building a Hagglebot That Could Cut Business Costs by 5%

Elon Musk says SpaceXSI is putting “a lot of effort” into a specialized Hagglebot for business use, and that it could cut enterprise costs by 5% or more. That’s according to a post he made on X at 11:26 AM PT Friday, replying to a fan’s thread about SpaceXSI’s Grok Bots.

Musk wrote that “we think it could improve enterprise cost-efficiency by 5% or more.” He added that, “applied to the global GDP, this could be up to $6 trillion/year in savings.” The post ends with a promise of “an immediate and measurable advantage to any company using Grok @Bot.” Those are his estimates, and he didn’t show the math behind them.

He also didn’t say what the Hagglebot does, when it will launch, what it will cost or who gets access. The post gives us a name, a target audience in “business use,” and a savings goal, and nothing else.

The post he replied to claimed that “Haggle Bot saved the team over $100K in its first week.” We can’t verify that figure. Musk’s reply doesn’t repeat or confirm it, so treat it as an unconfirmed fan claim.

Grok Bot is the agent version of Grok from SpaceXSI. Instead of only answering questions, it carries out tasks for you. Musk has spent the past week promoting it, and on October 10 he said you can now drop a photo of your credit card into a chat and Grok Bot will “scour the Internet for the best deal on the item you want and order it,” as we reported in our shopping story. He hasn’t said whether the Hagglebot builds on that ability.

The push has come from several directions. Musk wrote on October 9 that using Grok Bot “is like hiring a super smart, hard-working person for peanuts,” and a minute later said Grok Bots would manage Grokipedia. A Tesla engineer then announced on October 11 that Grok Bot was enabled on all Cybercabs and the rest of the Model Y fleet. Earlier this week, a SpaceXSI developer said Grok Bot now supports email plus aliases.

Business use is a different test from shopping for yourself. Companies will want to know what the Hagglebot is allowed to do, how it handles their data and who is accountable when it makes a deal, and SpaceXSI hasn’t addressed any of that. Would you trust a Hagglebot to negotiate on your company’s behalf?
