Elon Says Grok Bot Can Now Shop for You

Elon Musk says Grok Bot can now do your online shopping. In a post on X Saturday afternoon, he said you can snap a photo of your credit card, drop it into a chat with Grok Bot, and it will hunt down the best price on whatever you want and place the order.

“To buy stuff, you can just take a picture of your credit card, drop it in the chat and Grok @Bot will scour the Internet for the best deal on the item you want and order it,” Musk wrote.

He followed up minutes later with a real-world test. Replying to a user, Musk said, “Grok will find another way to buy stuff. I just ordered LEGO and Grok bought it from the LEGO website.”

Grok Bot is the agent version of Grok from SpaceXSI, the company formerly known as SpaceXAI. Instead of only answering questions, it carries out tasks for you. This week alone, it gained its own email inboxes and the ability to search, read and monitor X without a connector. A Tesla engineer also said Grok Bot access is coming to Cybercab in the next update.

Shopping is a bigger step. Handing an AI agent your card means trusting it with real money.

Musk didn’t say much beyond the two posts. He didn’t say whether shopping is live for everyone or still rolling out, which plans include it, or which countries it works in. He also didn’t explain what safeguards are in place, such as spending limits, a confirmation step before Grok Bot checks out, or how your card details are stored once you share the photo. SpaceXSI hasn’t posted any official details yet.

For now, the pitch is simple: show it your card, tell it what you want, and let it find the deal. Whether people are comfortable doing that will matter as much as how well it works.
