Tesla Model Y Tops All Korea Car Sales for Third Straight Month

Tesla Korea says the Model Y closed out September as the best-selling vehicle of any kind in South Korea, its third straight month atop the country’s overall sales chart, while Tesla stretched its lead as the top-selling imported brand to eight consecutive months.
Tesla Korea shared the milestone in a post on Monday night, thanking owners for their continued trust. The company cited registration data from the Korea Automobile Importers and Distributors Association and the Korea Automobile Manufacturers Association, the two industry groups that track imported and domestic sales across the country.
The streak is a rare feat for a foreign automaker in a market long dominated by Hyundai and Kia. For three months running, an imported electric vehicle has outsold every domestic model on sale in the country, gasoline and hybrid lineups included, underscoring how quickly buyer tastes are shifting.
Tesla’s broader momentum in Korea is just as notable. The company has now finished first among imported brands for eight straight months, a run stretching back to February, finishing ahead of every rival import brand. The consistency suggests the brand’s appeal in Korea goes well beyond a single popular model.
The Korea streak lands alongside a strong September in Europe, where the Model Y finished as France’s best-selling car of any kind and Tesla’s German registrations jumped 268 percent, adding to the sense that demand is building on both continents.
October’s figures will show whether the Model Y can stretch the run to four months, and whether Tesla’s grip on the import leaderboard holds through the final quarter of the year.
