SWISS has put its first Starlink-equipped aircraft into service at Zurich, an Airbus A320neo named Iseltwald that gives passengers free high-speed internet from gate to gate.
Starlink confirmed the jet had taken flight on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, a day after SWISS announced the launch from Zurich Airport. The carrier said the aircraft, registration HB-JDM, is the first in its fleet to carry Lufthansa Group Wi-Fi powered by Starlink.

The connection stays live through the whole journey instead of cutting in only at cruising altitude, and SWISS is offering it at no cost across all travel classes. Free cabin Wi-Fi is becoming a pattern, with Korean Air and Asiana both switching on complimentary Starlink service this month. It is the same gate-to-gate setup Starlink has pitched to other carriers, including Vietjet.
SWISS plans to extend the upgrade to three Airbus A320-family jets in the near term, beginning a broader fleet rollout. The launch makes SWISS the second Lufthansa Group airline to go live with Starlink, after Lufthansa itself equipped its first jet in August 2026.
Momentum keeps building across the Atlantic. United has put Starlink on more than 600 aircraft, about 36% of its fleet, and expects full-fleet coverage by the end of 2027. American Airlines has picked the service for 500-plus narrowbody aircraft, with installations starting in 2027. Delta is the outlier, choosing Amazon Leo for in-flight Wi-Fi from 2028.
With Iseltwald now flying scheduled service, the upgrade stops being an announcement and starts being a seat amenity passengers can actually use.
