Writing on X, Starlink said passengers and crew on Vietjet flights will soon be able to tap into its high-speed, low-latency internet from gate to gate. The post was shared in response to Vietjet’s own teaser that Starlink’s internet in the sky is coming soon to the airline.
Gate-to-gate connectivity matters because passengers can stay online from boarding through taxi, takeoff, and landing, not just at cruising altitude. For business travellers and remote workers, that turns nearly the entire journey into usable time online. The deal also adds another major carrier to Starlink’s growing list of airline partners, and comes just days after Asiana Airlines confirmed free Starlink Wi-Fi onboard its flights.
Starlink has been moving quickly in aviation. United Airlines debuted its first Starlink-equipped mainline jet in October 2025, and SpaceX’s satellite internet service has since picked up deals across Asia, including five Korean airlines and Singapore Airlines, which plans to launch Starlink Wi-Fi in 2027.
Neither Starlink nor Vietjet has given a firm date for the first connected flights. Airlines typically start with installations on select aircraft before expanding across the fleet, and Vietjet’s busiest domestic and regional routes will likely be first to see the service go live. Pricing and availability details are expected as the rollout begins.
For now, neither Starlink nor Vietjet has said when the first connected flights will take off, which aircraft will get the hardware first, or what passengers will pay for the service. The announcement continues Starlink’s busy run of airline deals, and more rollout details should surface as the launch gets closer.
