The Boring Company is inviting exceptional engineers on an all expenses paid, behind the scenes tour of the Vegas Loop in Las Vegas on Sunday, October 18, with applications due by October 1.
Monday brought the announcement of the behind the scenes tour. The Boring Company said Monday the tour will go behind the scenes of its operating tunnel network, and engineers can apply by October 1 at BoringDayInVegas.com.
Beneath Las Vegas, the Loop is an underground transit system where Tesla vehicles ferry passengers through tunnels between stations across the city. The company said earlier this month that its Vegas Loop stations will double by the end of the year.
Funding the expansion is a recent $3 billion Series D round that valued the company at $23 billion, with plans to bring the tunnel system to more cities in the US and abroad. The company has also announced a new tunnel loop in Nashville, Tennessee, and filings point to an underground loop in downtown Austin.
Quoting investor Baris Akis, the announcement notes he was a major investor in the Series D and has helped the company scale for five years. Akis said the Vegas Loop proved what is possible, and the $3 billion raise will fund expansion to more cities in the US and abroad.
Still unknown are how many engineers will be selected, how the company will judge applications, and whether travel costs are covered for engineers outside the Las Vegas area.
Engineers interested in the tour can apply by October 1 at BoringDayInVegas.com. The company has not said when invitations will go out to those selected.
