The Tesla Model Y is the world’s best-selling car through the first seven months of 2026, according to Focus2Move figures covering 162 countries, after sales rose 19.6 percent and pushed the Toyota Corolla into second place.

Ukravtoprom circulated the ranking on August 25. The Corolla is down 6.0 percent over the same stretch. Behind them sit the Ford F-Series, down 9.5 percent, the Toyota RAV4, down 25.6 percent, and the Honda CR-V, down 2.4 percent. The rest of the top 10 is the Toyota Camry, up 4.4 percent, the Chevrolet Silverado, down 5.2 percent, the Hyundai Tucson, up 1.3 percent, the Kia Sportage, up 2.4 percent, and the Volkswagen Tiguan, up 6.8 percent.

Focus2Move does not publish a unit count with that July year-to-date table, only the ranks and the year-over-year change. Toyota still has the deepest model range even after losing the single-model lead. The Model Y is the only name in the top four that is growing in a meaningful way.

In Europe the same crossover is the best-selling electric vehicle, with 115,957 registrations through July, up 55 percent, though it sits fifth among all cars there. A cheaper Standard trim from Gigafactory Berlin has been part of that rebound after last year’s slump, when the Model Y still managed monthly first-place finishes in a weaker year.

A global No. 1 through July is the bigger scoreboard. Focus2Move tracks 162 countries, and the Model Y now sits there with five months left to defend the lead against a Corolla that usually stacks volume in the second half.
