Tesla Unveils 2026 Summer Software Update With Major AI Upgrades

Tesla has officially detailed its major 2026 Summer Release software update, introducing expanded Grok AI voice controls, navigation improvements, and new mobile app features.

Here’s what’s new in the 2026 Summer software update:

Expanded Grok AI Commands
Grok can now execute direct vehicle functions instead of just answering conversational questions. Drivers can use Grok to place phone calls, search and play music, adjust climate controls, open the glovebox, and answer specific questions about their vehicle.

Smarter Automatic Navigation
Automatic Navigation now learns regular habits beyond basic home, work, and calendar trips. The vehicle can suggest and route to frequent stops like school drop-offs or gym visits, and navigation will now prioritize preferred routes drivers have taken in the past.

Mobile App Upgrades
Tesla is adding three key mobile features:

1. Drivers can view and share Full Self-Driving statistics directly from their phone.

2. Owners can set a desired battery arrival energy percentage from the app before starting a trip.

3. Custom vehicle wraps can now be sent directly from the app without needing a USB drive.

Entertainment and Family Controls
Caraoke now keeps score of singing performances while parked and saves high scores to the driver profile. For families, the new Rear Display Lock lets kids watch content on the back screen while giving front passengers total control over media playback.

Supercharger and Browser Enhancements
Drivers can now search for Superchargers by venue name rather than street address, add Apple Music songs directly to a queue, adjust the zoom level for the self-driving visualization, and use web browser support for cameras and microphones. New Model 3 and Model Y vehicles also get updated welcome animations on startup.
