Tesla Reveals Cybercab Will Feature Built-In Starlink V5 Connectivity

Tesla has officially confirmed that its upcoming fully autonomous Cybercab will feature built-in Starlink V5 satellite integration directly inside the vehicle.

According to a graphic shared by Tesla, the next-generation satellite terminal will sit alongside traditional GPS antennas and 5G LTE hardware. The visual outline reveals how the compact V5 satellite setup is embedded right into the roof structure, providing high-speed internet connectivity alongside the car’s primary Full Self-Driving computer and external cameras.

Integrating satellite internet directly into the fleet gives the autonomous robotaxi a persistent connection to the cloud, even when driving through remote areas with poor cellular coverage. This allows the vehicle to upload telemetry data, download map updates, and provide high-speed Wi-Fi for passengers without depending solely on traditional mobile networks.

For passengers, getting (likely free?) Starlink access in a Cybercab is a big selling point, especially if you’re a tourist landing into a new country and don’t have cellular roaming set up yet.

This is also a direct SpaceX and Tesla collaboration to make this possible. Starlink said on X today, “High-speed internet from space for the future of autonomous vehicles.”
