Tesla pushed a new FSD v14 Lite build out to early testers last night, and Tesla AI head Ashok Elluswamy just confirmed moments ago this is likely the version going out broadly to older AI3 hardware vehicles.
Sharing an owner’s review of the update, Elluswamy wrote, “FSD v14 Lite (for Tesla AI3 hardware vehicles) review. This is the version that’s likely going to wide release.”
The review came from longtime Tesla owner and FSD early tester Zack, whose HW3 car was on 2026.20.6 when the new 2026.20.6.10 build started downloading. He put more than 100 miles on it before writing up his impressions. “V14 lite was already quite good and this update brought some HUGE UI improvements which makes it feel so much better,” he wrote.
A lot of what stood out to him were interface changes that finally bring HW3 cars in line with newer AI4 vehicles. “Tesla has added a great Start Self Driving from park change where you now don’t have to confirm by pressing the brake pedal to start FSD from park. Seems like a minor change but it’s a huge quality of life improvement,” he said.
The parking interface made the jump over too. “Tesla has also added the same parking options tab as AI4 cars, when approaching your destination it pulls up the tab to show you your parking options at destination. It shows the blue P and you can press it mid drive as well. Something else to note is Curbside has now been changed to Pull Over just like AI4 FSD v14.3.”
HW3 owners are also getting the Self Driving app and the gamified streak tracking that AI4 cars already had. “The Self Driving App has been added in this update just like AI4 cars, it tracks your overall percentage of FSD usage,” Zack wrote, adding, “This new update has also brought streaks! Just like AI4 cars it tracks your continuous streak of FSD usage. It also shows you how many days in a row you have used FSD. Got a 100 mile streak tonight and it showed confetti just like AI4.”
On the driving itself, highway behavior got the strongest praise. “Highway performance is SO good still. Keeps a consistent speed with no unnecessary lane changes and I saw zero left lane camping tonight. It handles high speed curves so perfectly and doesn’t ping pong and it feels so dialed in. Dare I say almost as good as AI4, almost all the way there,” he wrote, though he wanted more from the merge. “Just wish it would accelerate stronger in hurry onto the highway when merging from the on ramp.”
City driving came out slightly ahead of the previous build. “This update is similar than before but seems to be slightly more confident around city streets,” he said, calling out “really good yellow light performance on the three I encountered and had smooth braking and no overreactions.” He also noted improvements pulling away from stops, saying Tesla “definitely improved the way it leaves stop signs and lights though, slightly more linear and smooth acceleration from a stop.”
It isn’t all clean. Zack flagged a few lingering issues, writing, “I did however see the weird turn signal bug for the second time ever tonight at a traffic light so this is still present with this update as well as the slight steering wheel wobble at around 40mph.” Parking still has rough edges too. “It still doesn’t straighten out wheel at the end which I would like to see changed. It also still ‘double stops’ when almost done with a parking job backing up to a supercharger space.”
His overall read was enthusiastic. “Most importantly, FSD v14 lite feels so much safer than v12.6.4,” he wrote, closing with, “Absolutely incredible what they’ve accomplished with v14 lite on HW3 cars. Feels like I got a new car.”
Tesla’s release notes explain how the company pulled it off, saying it “distilled the intelligence from HW4 V14 into HW3,” which “allows HW3 to directly learn how to handle scenarios using HW4 V14 as a guide.” Tesla says the process “unlocks the improvements that have been made to HW4 including Reinforcement Learning (RL) and offline models for HW3.”
The notes also list improved responsiveness across navigation handling, merges and forks, pedestrian interactions, traffic lights, and vehicle cut-in scenarios, plus better comfort through “fewer false slowdowns, smoother steering and more consistent lane centering.” New capabilities include parking, unparking and reversing, along with Arrival Options that let drivers pick whether FSD pulls over in a parking lot, on the street, or in a driveway. Speed Profiles are now available at all times.
