Tesla Debuts Search Ads for Model 3, Model Y and Solar
Tesla CEO Elon Musk said during the company’s annual shareholder meeting in May the automaker would try a “little advertising”.
We saw Tesla do exactly just that during its Electrify Expo booths in the U.S. and now we’re starting to see the company advertise with Adwords, Google’s advertising for search.
Tesla is currently showcasing 18 text ad units showcasing the Model Y, Model 3 and its solar products in the U.S. and UK, spotted by @komocode.
The text ads have landing pages for Tesla’s website and its virtual consult for solar products. While this is definitely a start for Tesla’s advertising, many customers are still waiting for the company to debut more high-profile ads, such as commercials and more showcasing innovative features and advantages of its electric vehicles.
Tesla recently brought back the Model 3 RWD Long Range in the UK, while also started a “cash for clunkers” program in the nation and now these search ads, which appear when people search Google for either EV terms or even Tesla’s competitors. Tesla might not need to advertise right now as the company continues to sell cars like gangbusters–we’re near the end of Q2 this month and should find out production and deliveries in early July.
