Windstar Cruises announced plans to debut SpaceX’s Starlink internet across its entire global fleet, according to a press release shared on Monday.

The release says Starlink internet will hit most of the company’s global cruiseliner fleet by the middle of this year, beginning with the watercraft Star Legend, and as followed by its Wind Surf, Wind Star and Star Breeze liners. Additionally, the company will offer Starlink aboard its Wind Spirit cruise liner once it becomes available in French Polynesia.

The Starlink internet is expected to work alongside its current services with Anuvu, and the company says SpaceX’s low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellite internet will help “amplify” speeds from the geostationary satellite service.

I am thrilled to be working with Anuvu and Starlink to offer our guests the latest in satellite technology,” Windstar Cruises Technology Director Gregg Wagner said. When the ships are inside the service area, faster speeds will alleviate much of the frustration felt at peak use times.”

SpaceX launched Starlink maritime last July, and it has since garnered contracts with several cruise and marine communications companies, most recently including Carnival Cruises, Tototheo Maritime, Marlink Maritime and Silent Yachts, among others.

The news comes just a few days after onlookers spotted several SpaceX job openings for the company’s Austin, Texas factory.
