Tesla Adding More Infrastructure at Giga Texas, Show Filings
Tesla is planning to double down on the construction of infrastructure at Gigafactory Texas, as spotted in a recent filing shared by the company.
A December 20 filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation shows that Tesla is looking to start construction on the Highway 130 corridor to the east of its Gigafactory, according to a report from Austin Business Journal.
The automaker also plans to develop the land to the west of SH-130, where Tesla plans to build a wastewater interceptor.
Tesla’s construction plans include an estimated investment of about $58 million, and will encompass a 174,979-square-foot space

The projects, as detailed in the filings, will oversee the “ground up and complete interior finish out of the [electric vehicle] manufacturing facility.” Tesla is targeting December 27 to begin the construction project, estimating its completion by March 13.
Currently, Giga Texas represents the largest manufacturer in Central Texas, currently employing around 10,000 people.
In September, Tesla CEO Elon Musk highlighted what he calls “ecological paradise plans,” for the factory’s south, though he highlighted that the factory must be “financially on its feet” before delving into the project.
