NIO Opens First Showroom in Sweden
NIO on Friday opened its first showroom in Sweden, a little over a couple of weeks after the Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker opened its first battery swap station in the European country (via CnEVPost).
The “NIO Space,” as the company calls it, is located at the Westfield Täby Mall Centrum in the Swedish capital of Stockholm. According to NIO, the outlet personifies the company’s pure, minimalistic design aesthetic. The opening of the showroom was announced on the company’s mobile app on Friday.

NIO Spaces are the smaller of the company’s two types of upscale showrooms, the other being “NIO Houses.”
In China alone, NIO has 318 NIO Spaces and 91 NIO Houses. The automaker recently opened another NIO House in Dongguan, a city in China’s Guangdong province. With NIO working towards increasing its market share outside of China, it has two NIO Houses in Norway and is building new ones in several European countries.
Back in October, NIO held a launch event in Germany where it unveiled the ET7, EL7 (known as the ES7 in China), and ET5 all-electric vehicles for the European market.
NIO initially expanded into Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, and Sweden with a rental model, introducing the NIO Subscription that only allows customers to lease vehicles for up to 60 months, not buy them. However, the automaker started offering purchase options in these countries last month, with the first deliveries of purchased vehicles set to begin in 2023.
NIO recently celebrated its 8th anniversary and a total of over 270,000 customers across the globe. The company delivered 31,607 vehicles globally during the third quarter, up 29% year-over-year and bringing its tally for the year up to September 30, 2022, to a whopping 249,504 units.
