Tesla’s Model 3 Performance is now delivering with the automaker’s newer Model Y-style tail lights, as noticed by one new buyer this week.

A Tesla Model 3 Performance buyer picking up the vehicle in Fort Worth, Texas has noticed that the electric vehicle (EV) includes Model Y-style tail lights, including both the C-Style brake light and the amber turn signals (via Reddit).

Interestingly enough, some other 2023 Model 3 Performance buyers noted that their vehicles have the original red turn signals and brake lights.

At least two other users in the thread, one who picked up their Model 3 Performance on October 29, noted that they also have the amber turn signals.

Another buyer picked theirs up on October 27 but it did not have the amber turn signals.

One user in the thread also pointed out that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) studied the amber turn signals, finding them to be safer than all-red brake light and turn signal combos with a 5.3 percent increase in effectiveness.

Others outside of the U.S. in Europe and Australia also pointed out that the amber turn signals are standard for those markets.

Tesla updated the U.S. market version of the Model Y to include amber turn signals in 2020, not long after the vehicle’s launch. With the Model 3 starting to use these same signals, Tesla is able to simplify its supply chain and increase production.
