Starlink Satellite Camera Captures Falcon 9 Rocket Deorbiting to Earth [VIDEO]

As SpaceX prepares to begin ramping up its Starlink launches next year, a new video has come to light showing the onboard cameras on these satellites.

SpaceX CEO @Elon Musk shared a video and photo showing the second stage of the Falcon 9 rocket deorbiting back to Earth and preparing to burn up in the atmosphere.

While the first stage of the Falcon 9 rocket lands itself on one of SpaceX’s autonomous drone ships in the ocean, the second stage that deploys its Starlink satellite payload, will deorbit and fall back down to Earth, burning up in the atmosphere to reduce space junk.

The video shared by Musk and recorded from a Starlink satellite camera, shows a rare look at this process.

The news comes as SpaceX also plans to launch Starlink’s second-gen satellites once a week in 2023, according to a filing with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) shared this week.

SpaceX launched 52 Starlink satellites into orbit on Wednesday, just hours after it launched the Crew-5 Mission to the International Space Station (ISS).

Earlier this week, SpaceX also said that Dish’s 5G plan will disrupt Starlink users more than the company previously thought.

SpaceX also began upgrading a backup pad at Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral this week, set to be used secondarily in the future for cargo resupply and crew missions.

The SpaceX Starlink app for iOS hit almost 2.3 million downloads last month, with the satellite internet service having more active daily users than ever.
