Tesla Model Y Tops Car Sales in Norway for June 2022 and Year-to-Date
According to the latest statistics from elbilstatistikk.no, Tesla’s Model Y has dominated new passenger car sales in Norway so far this month and this year (via InsideEVs).
The all-electric crossover had a lull in sales for the past couple of months, but it appears to be rebounding. As of June 25, Tesla has sold nearly 2,000 Model Ys in Norway for the month. That’s almost twice as many as the Volkswagen ID.4, which occupies the runner-up spot with 1,016 sold in the month so far.
Between January 1 and June 25, that number goes up to 5,607 units. The Model Y is the best-selling vehicle in Norway year-to-date, with the Volkswagen ID.4 in second place at 4,174 units sold and the Skoda Enyaq iV in third place with 2,896.
Electric vehicles (EVs) actually make up the bulk of new car sales in Norway. EVs accounted for a whopping 54% of all Norwegian new passenger vehicle sales in 2020, and their market share went up to 65% in 2021.
Last year, Tesla was the top-selling automotive brand in the country. 2022 could tell a similar story. According to numbers from the automotive industry database MarkLines, Tesla captured 10% of the Norwegian car market between January and May.
Tesla last month made the tow hitch standard for all Model Ys sold in Norway. For the rest of the world, the tow hitch is available as an add-on when placing an order or after taking delivery.
As of January, Tesla has also opened its Supercharging network up to non-Tesla vehicles in Norway.
