Tesla’s Harris Ranch location already has 18 Supercharger stalls. However, a building permit spotted in April 2021 revealed plans to add at least 80 more Superchargers to the site.

At the time, the Harris Ranch Supercharger was expected to become the largest in the U.S. However, that title will now likely go to another 100-stall Supercharger in California, currently under construction on roughly four acres of desert in the Mojave.

Work on the Harris Ranch expansion began in April, about one year after the permit was originally discovered.

Tesla likely decided to add a boatload of new Superchargers to this location because of how busy the installations along the Los Angeles-San Francisco route get around the holidays. “The station on Panoche Rd has 56 stalls and gets pretty near full on holidays,” said one Reddit user.

Once up and running, the 100-ish Supercharger stalls at Harris Ranch will be able to take some of the pressure off other nearby locations during the holidays and provide a convenient charging location (with plenty of spots) to Tesla drivers on the I-5 year-round.

Earlier this week, Tesla celebrated hitting a total of 35,000 connectors at Superchargers across the globe.
