Electric vehicles (EVs) are making their way through luxury vehicle markets, even in their infancy, and one high-speed luxury automaker has announced plans to unveil its first EV later this year.
DeLorean Motor Company will reveal its concept EV on August 18, 2022, at the Awards Ramp at Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance during Monterey Car Week, according to a press release shared on Monday.
The reveal is set to be three days earlier than previously planned, and DeLorean will also reveal the EV’s name at the display event.
After revealing the concept EV, DeLorean will leave the EV on display at the Concept Lawn at Pebble Beach through August 21.
In a statement, DeLorean CMO Troy Beetz said, “Excitement is rising like the doors of our iconic sports car, and we are revealing the next generation prototype 3 days earlier than planned on the most prestigious stage at Pebble beach.”
Currently, a photo of the EV’s back left tail light is the only thing available about it, after being shared in a pixelated form on Friday and in a clear depiction on Monday.
Other luxury vehicle manufacturers such as Porsche and Lamborghini have also begun pivoting towards the development of EVs, along with most major automakers.
Lately, EV startups have struggled to actually produce cars, despite producing concepts for the masses to drive up hype. Let’s see if DeLorean is actually able to make and deliver this future EV.
