Tesla Launches Cloud Syncing for Driver Profiles
Tesla has finally launched cloud syncing for driver profiles, allowing users to save their profiles (and all associated preferences) to Tesla’s servers so they carry over to any Tesla they drive anywhere in the world (via @WholeMarsBlog).
“Took us way too long,” company CEO Elon Musk said about the feature on Twitter.

In Tesla’s ‘Driver Profiles’ menu, users will now have the option to Enable Vehicle Sync on a per-account basis. Profiles that have the option turned on will automatically sync across all the vehicles in your Tesla app, whether you own multiple or are renting one or using a loaner vehicle.
The feature will allow users to have all of their settings and preferences already dialled into any Tesla they drive based on their driver profile.
References to a cloud-based ‘Vehicle Sync’ option were first discovered late last year in Tesla’s software update 2021.40. However, the feature has actually been in the works since as far back as 2017 when Musk first mentioned it on Twitter.
We are going to move all info and settings to the "cloud" (aka server) so any Tesla you drive in the world automatically adjusts to you

Certain settings, like seat and mirror positions, for example, will carry over to varying degrees depending on what model you’re currently driving and which one you originally configured them in. That said, most of the settings should port over well to any vehicle since they are unlikely to be affected by differences in the vehicles’ sizes, heights, and other dimensional properties.
